Assembly was easy and took less than 30min. The incline is non-adjustable at about 9deg. The handle bars are necessary for holding on and controlling the belt speed, otherwise you just fly off the end. With a height of 5’9” the handle bars were a little low for me. I also wanted to use my arms for walking. Easy fix: attach some yoga straps or any type of rope to the handle to stay tethered. Looks funny but works like a charm. You can also hold them like reins, which is also more comfortable than the side bars if you’re taller.
It takes a second or two to get into the rhythm of the manual belt but from there you can just trot along. The “noise” is not bad at all and compares to any other treadmill imo. I wouldn’t recommend running since the belt is fairly narrow and you really need a regular stride to be in sync with the belt and enjoy the workout. Speedy walking will do just as much.
The little computer is useful as well if you don’t have any other wearable. It toggles between time, distance, speed, and calories. I walked at a moderate pace for 30 minutes and burnt around 200 calories (Apple watch and computer cals were within 3%) and was slightly sweating.
Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase. I will follow the maintenance instructions (regularly oiling the running board and belt with the supplied oil) and hope that it’ll last a couple of years.
1. Easy to assemble. Took me 30 minutes.
2. Fits in tight spaces.
3. Forces you to engage leg and butt muscles to move the belt.
4. Got my heart rate up and sweated a lot. Per Fitbit I burned 450 calories and was in peak heart rate zone for 45 minute test walk.
5. Can adjust incline by propping up back, but belt moves more smoothly at default incline.
CONS:
1. If you walk with back straight/leaning back or just in center of length, belt will slow down. To keep it moving, works best to lean slightly forward and engage the front edge of belt. That does force you to work back and leg muscles more.
2. Belt is skinny, so if you don’t pay attention can hit sides which throws off rhythm. I stayed straighter when keeping one hand on the handle.
3. No cup holder. Why?
4. No harness to go hands free. I made one out of a harbinger connecting 2 small resistance tubes, wrapped around a 6-8” wide waist wrap and handle. Wrap made me sweat more and feel secure on the incline.
I step in i almost fall…. Be careful always hold the handles, when you start walking take off really fast.
PS. READ THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL! I know some people think is not necessary but it comes with instructions not only to assemble but to take care of it and prolongue the treadmill’s life AND it comes in English, Spanish, French and German.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT SO MUCH. THANK YOU SUNNY HEALTH AND FITNESS!
240 he wouldn't use, He would want something sturdier. I did add 2 cedar peices under the back to make the incline not as steep because it makes it faster than I prefer for a long walk. I don't think it hurts anything. I used big wide boards about 2 inches tall. I would guess that if you weighed 230 and did that and walked at top of the treadmill it could potentially tilt thats the only reason I would see it being a problem. I think this is a great product. Oh it took about 2 hours to put together. My husband had to use a drill to make a hole wider where the hole was off. I guess we were the unlucky ones with that. The timer uses 2 batteries it monitors time, speed and mileage. For $150 I LOVE it. My first walk was 35 minutes. I worked up a sweat and had to change into cooler clothes. Highly recommend.
I have put over 250 miles on it in the first month. It works great! I average 2.5 mph walking as I work. And since I am "the motor" I don't have to worry about wearing out the electrical parts anymore 😂. If you have any questions I can be found on Instagram @100MilesInaWeek
NOTE: After using this treadmill for two days, I've experienced that the setted incline is definitely not a good thing for me. I wish this treadmill had an option to LOWER the setted incline. I will be doing shorter walks on the treadmill because the setted incline is a little bit too much for me 😒. Besides that, this is still a great treadmill for the price.
Took around 10 minutes to assemble (thank the maker the running deck was preassembled)
The incline is tough. Not gonna lie. I’m not in awesome shape, but I’m not wholly out of shape either. Read somewhere that it’s a 13.5%. Lots of the workouts on apps have you increase the incline from 3-5%. This is harder. I’m okay with that tho because as soon as I get used to it I’ll be in a better place.
It’s small and love that! Doesn’t take up a ton of floor space! It’s fairly quiet but it does hum. Easy to hold a conversation while on it.
You do have to keep at least one hand on it. Not so much for staying on the machine but more for maintaining the leverage to make the belt run. (Tip for watch style trackers— put it on your ankle!)
First round of using this i was winded as heck. Second round was better. Third even better. Get some great distractions and enjoy!
Any who are interested in using this for therapy reasons should not buy. Under the safety info., number 10 states "The equipment is not suitable for therapeutic use". Because of the incline, I can see why it might be difficult. But it's great for an easy workout.
After reading the reviews, I found a solution for any who were concerned about falling off. They sell treadmill waist safety bands. But if you have any resistance bands, I took my 50, 40 and 30 pound bands and used the straps it came with to create a safety band. I wouldn't recommend only using one band. It works amazingly and I'm able to use my arms freely and walk at a much better pace. I'm able to use my fitness watch and hit my goal of 5,000 steps in about 40-60 minutes depending on my speed.
This treadmill is in my bedroom. I am one the second floor and I could've have scooted/pushed the treadmill upstairs if necessary but I did have help in carrying it. It may be a little heavy for some.
Assembly was super easy, basically there's only 4 steps. I did not have assistance with it. I did use my own tools. I would put aside an hour to set it up, make sure it goes together, it fits in the spot, etc., but that was me leisurely putting it together. Make sure you line up the left and right because I accidentally didn't and that what added the extra time for me. But if you're great at instructions the first time, you can very easily assemble this in 15-20 minutes.
It collapses very nicely, just have to remove a lock screw from the bottom and put it on top. I keep the treadmill at the foot of my bed and then move it out and put it front of my tv. I have small recliner right behind me and a couple inches in front. Not necessarily a tight fit, which was one of the selling points for me and the limited space in my bedroom.
To make the treadmill more enjoyable, I'll either put on a treadmill/walk/hike on my TV (which has YouTube on it) and walk the amount of time of the video or put on a 45 minute TV show and then a 15 minute trail walk so I get about an hour workout a day. It's absolutely amazing how much of a decent sweat you get. I wish my TV was a little higher, but nothing I can do about that lol.
I absolutely would recommend this product to any who are looking to lose weight or at least use it to keep from gaining any more. It's amazing, compact and easy to use and put away. Definitely a great buy!
So far it's been working good
Update: I called them and they helped me adjust it. It works pretty well now. The only thing I don’t like it that you can’t walk without holding holding the railing.
This was really more than I expected. I love ur for many reasons. It’s manual and I love that. The belt only moves when you make the effort. It’s really sturdy and not cheap feeling. I can’t wait to post a 90 day quarantine look for my walking plan on my Sunny Health Manual Treadmill. I am an online trainer and I recommended it to several clients who also love it. Other trainers are also reaching out after I posted a full video of my slooowww assembly. Lol! I would love someone to put it together for me - but I’m socially distancing and honestly just trying to save money. Great experience knowing I of all people can put together a whole treadmill. That was a confidence booster! But it is a phenomenal piece of investment into my own health which is essential to me. Pardon the pom poms - I’m a former cheerleader but I still love and use them 🤣 Got my heart rate on my Apple Watch average 148 bpm!!! Not a lot of calories but that’s because my body is in great shape so my heart is more efficient and doesn’t work as hard, so I’ll always have lower calories. But still - it was a good challenge for me!
Pros
- this is easy to assemble (I delegated to my 11-year old).
- very space-friendly. I have this tucked away next to my desk and its small enough that it doesnt require moving or folding each time, I can leave it erected.
- you really can get a good workout out of this. If you stay above 3 - 3.5 miles an hour you can work up a decent heartrate.
Cons:
- the treadmill really is short, and I've gone backwards into the fireplace a couple of times when not concentrating. Treadmill and overall frame size mean this is perfect for me (5'2) but I can imagine not for someone 5'6 upwards and with longer strides.
- lack of versatility. It is only for walking, the incline is fixed, and you do have to hold onto the handles.
- its fairly basic design and I can believe as some reviewers say that it may not survive more than 3 months of daily use.
Conclusion: very good value for money.
I love this little treadmill.
First I’ll say I received this far earlier than the ship date, so Covid interruption in shipping may have become better. I got it in about a week. The packaging was extra thick cardboard with styrofoam packing and the treadmill had no dings or scratches others had, or the packing seems to be more than adequate. I was able to move the box myself but would likely needed help going upstairs.
Second it was put together by the bf, who does put together stuff all the time, but he said it was really not bad, did it alone in about 30 minutes and all tools were included. He didn’t have the issue lining up the screws others did but maybe we got lucky.
Third, the actual treadmill once put together was extremely compact and easy to move around a room to decide where it’s going. Could do it with one person if necessary.
Fourth using the treadmill was exactly as some of the video reviews here have shown. You won’t fly off if you take a few minutes to get the feel of the pace. It is very easy to pause by placing your feet on the sides while holding on. Your pace will be uneven if new to manual treadmills but it really only took one session to figure out slowing down and speeding back up, about 20 minutes and you’ll feel comfortable and confident. I will say being smaller in height and shoe size likely makes this more comfortable. The walking tread is pretty narrow but that’s also the selling point of the treadmill, it is very light and compact. The most challenging part is likely that you’re always on an incline but again once you get used to using it, you will be able to slow down and pace yourself if you’re working too hard. For me this is an ideal walking treadmill and with the incline you really do get a work out versus feeling like you’re walking in place. I’ve added pictures of the incline as it seems some other reviewers pictures were far more steep. Not sure how they ended up with that but this is a nice incline for the average person. It’s also fairly quiet when in use. The only drawback I saw were the foam cushions on the handles could have some texture to add grip, which would be easy enough to add yourself.
Last I would not recommend using this as a standing walking desk setup. Maybe if you’re comfortable with manual treadmills already but it just seems like a bad idea with the constant incline and the need to manually stop yourself. Maybe with practice but I wouldn’t think it would be easy as a way to start. Overall this is exactly what I was looking for and an incredibly happy with this purchase at this price.
Definitely have to hold on to something though, this thing gets moving if not. Can use for a nice walk or slow jog. Surface is too small for a fast paced run.
Overall I’m very pleased so far!
(Update) after 2-3 months of using it daily for one hour the treadmill was no longer running as smooth as it did when I first got it. I tried to lube it and it still wasn’t running smooth and on top of that the belt kept switching left and right. I kept trying to adjust it and nothing was working to make it run as when I first opened and used it. The machine ended in the trash sadly.
So much better for my posture and sense of well being to walk a few hours a day on this instead of just sitting all the time!
I’m 60+ and it only took me about half an hour to assemble. The directions were very clear, all the nuts and bolts were clearly labeled, and they even included a combination wrench and Phillips screwdriver. Those were the only tools needed.
